Don't wait until it's 100°F outside. If you notice any of these, bring your vehicle in.
Your A/C is blowing but the air isn’t cold. Often points to low refrigerant, a failing compressor, or a clogged expansion valve.
Clicking, rattling, or grinding when the A/C kicks on can indicate a worn compressor clutch or debris in the blower motor.
A moldy smell from the vents usually means bacteria or mold growth in the evaporator core or a dirty cabin air filter.
Puddles or dampness on the passenger-side floorboard can signal a clogged condensate drain line.
If you don't hear the compressor click on, the system may be critically low on refrigerant or have an electrical fault.
Air barely comes out even on the highest setting. Could be a failing blower motor, clogged cabin filter, or duct issue.
When your car's air conditioning stops working in Houston, it's more than an inconvenience — it's unbearable. At Ruben's Auto Repair & A/C Service, we specialize in complete auto A/C diagnostics and repair for all makes and models. Whether your system needs a simple refrigerant recharge or a full compressor replacement, we have the tools and experience to fix it right the first time.
We service both R-134a and newer 1234yf refrigerant systems, so whether you drive a 2005 Honda Civic or a 2024 Toyota Camry, we’ve got you covered. Our Houston shop has been handling A/C repairs for over 30 years — we know Texas heat and what it does to your vehicle’s climate system.
Unlike chain shops that push unnecessary services, we start with an honest diagnostic. We'll tell you exactly what's wrong, what it will cost, and let you decide. That's how we've kept customers coming back for three decades.

Complete system check including pressure testing, leak detection, and component inspection to pinpoint the exact issue.
We verify the correct refrigerant type and charge to the exact level specified for your vehicle. No guesswork.
UV dye testing and electronic leak detection to find and fix refrigerant leaks in hoses, seals, and components.
Full compressor removal, replacement, and system flush. Quality parts with verified operation before delivery.
Repair or replacement of condensers and evaporator cores, including system evacuation and proper recharge.
Diagnosis and replacement of blower motors, resistors, and speed controllers to restore proper airflow.
Heater core inspection, flush, and replacement. We handle the full dash-out procedure when required.
Electronic climate control troubleshooting, blend door actuator repair, and control module diagnosis.
Quick cabin air filter inspection and replacement to improve air quality and restore full vent airflow.

We've been fixing A/C systems through Houston summers since 1993. We've seen every failure mode Texas heat can cause.
Many shops can't handle newer 1234yf refrigerant. We service both systems — your vehicle is covered regardless of year or make.
We'll tell you exactly what's wrong before recommending repairs. No upselling, no unnecessary work. You approve everything.
You'll know the cost before we start. No hidden charges, no surprise line items. The price we quote is the price you pay.

The cost depends on your vehicle's refrigerant type. R-134a recharges are typically less expensive than 1234yf systems. We'll diagnose the issue first and give you an exact price before any work begins. Call us at (832) 607-0968 for a current estimate.
The most common causes are low refrigerant (usually from a leak), a failing compressor, a clogged expansion valve, or an electrical issue. We start with a full diagnostic to find the root cause rather than guessing.
A simple recharge can be done in about an hour. Compressor replacements and major repairs typically take 3-5 hours. We'll give you a time estimate after diagnosis so you can plan your day.
R-134a is the refrigerant used in most vehicles made before 2015-2017. 1234yf is a newer, more environmentally friendly refrigerant required in newer models. They are not interchangeable, and 1234yf is more expensive. We service both types.
We don't recommend it. Over-the-counter recharge kits can overcharge the system, introduce moisture or sealants that damage components, and mask leaks that will only get worse. A professional diagnostic and recharge is safer and more cost-effective long term.
In most cases, yes. Simple repairs and recharges can often be completed the same day. For major work like compressor replacement, we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule. Call ahead so we can plan for your visit.
